“The Gulf is very, very healing,” says Amanda Escobio as she reflects on the path that led her to opening Sea-renity Beach Spa & Bou-Tiki on Anna Maria Island some 15 years ago. Sea-renity is the only place on the island where you can enjoy a true beach massage – we’re talking private tiki hut right on the sand, the sound of rolling waves in the background, and a gentle island breeze blowing through the curtains. It’s the epitome of a relaxing vacation. And for Amanda, a massage therapist for nearly 30 years, doing what she loves in a place she loves has been as much a dream come true as this one-of-a-kind experience has been for clients!

Amanda first got the idea to do massage on the beach from a Condé Nast Traveler magazine. She was flipping through the pages and discovered a place in Bali that offered a similar service. At the time, she owned and operated a day spa in California but dreamt of returning to Anna Maria Island, a place she remembered fondly from her childhood. Her plan for the new venture was to keep the setup simple. She recalls thinking, “I’ll sit out [in the tiki hut] with a book and just wait for customers to show up.” But she’s a salesperson at heart, and the beach here – well, as she puts it, “there’s just nothing like it.” Suffice it to say, business grew quickly. Since then, Sea-renity has even been featured by Condé Nast Traveler – the very publication credited with its inception!

Couples are probably the biggest indulgers of the beach massage; a lot of newlyweds and those celebrating anniversaries book the package. But it’s also a highly sought-after experience for wedding parties, girls trips, and even solo travelers looking to cross this healing experience off their bucket list.

In addition to the idyllic beach setting and picturesque views of the Gulf of Mexico that make this the best massage of your life, Amanda also has handpicked a team of experienced massage therapists. “I actually get contacted on a pretty regular basis [by] people [who] want to move from across the country to do this,” she says. “So we can afford to be a little choosy – and that really results in the best massage possible for our guests.”

While the beach massage is Sea-renity’s claim to fame, other wellness treatments and packages are available at the indoor, temperature-controlled spa locations throughout the island, including traditional massage therapy, manicures, pedicures, facials, hair, and yoga. Sea-renity’s Bridge Street location also features a Bou-Tiki – a unique storefront filled with curated coastal gifts and local art.

The team does its best to accommodate last-minute appointments; however, it’s recommended that you book in advance to secure your spot. Plus, during the summer months, beach massages are only available from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. to sunset to avoid the extreme Florida heat.
