Your Guide to Waterfront Dining on Anna Maria Island

Stretching only seven miles long and no more than a mile wide, Anna Maria Island is the ideal spot for dining with views of turquoise waters. But with so many spots to choose from – all with their own vibe – you may need some help choosing the right place for your waterfront meal. Here is your guide to finding your perfect restaurant for waterfront dining on AMI.

The Waterfront

Appropriately named, this sophisticated dining spot on the northern end of the island has spectacular views of Tampa Bay. If you’re looking for an elegant meal with a non-pretentious atmosphere, The Waterfront is the perfect place to go.

Gulf Drive Cafe

Located about halfway down AMI and on the gulf side, Gulf Drive Café has a laid-back tropical vibe with the added bonus of being right on the beach. They are also open for breakfast, so head here if you want to enjoy one of their famous giant waffles with your toes in the sand.

Beach Bistro

Beach Bistro is a Zagat-rated restaurant that has been named one of the most romantic in the world – and for good reason. At this gulf-side fine dining establishment you can enjoy a gourmet dinner while watching the sunset from the restaurant’s private beach.

Rod & Reel Pier

This old Florida fishing pier and restaurant – dating back to 1947 – resides on the bay side near the northern tip of the island. It’s a great place to have a fresh grouper sandwich (or try any of their ‘Floribbean’ cuisine) while surrounded by calm blue waters.

Anna Maria Oyster Bar

Another Florida-fresh restaurant on a pier, AMOB can be found at the end of Bridge Street on the Bridge Street Pier. They too are known for their refreshing seafood cuisine and, of course, their oysters. Dining on their patio offers chances to see dolphins, manatees, and other sea life in Sarasota Bay.
